• Patrick Moore is a former executive of Greenpeace, who severed his ties with this prominent organization because he realized that the environmental movement was taken over by fools, who had no interest in the environment, but in a rather undefined, leftist hippie political movement. He sets the record straight about a lot of things, including global warming, numbers of species to be lost in the near future and first and foremost about logging and forresting.
• Bjørn Lomborg, "The Skeptical Environmentalist": Björn analyses statistical data and works on taking the emotional factor out of environmentalism. He tries to fight global stupidity with clear cut facts.

• Imagining the tenth dimension; originally a book by Rob Bryanton, who also developed this website and the flash illustration. Even though he admits that his interpretation of the dimensions is not generally shared by mainstream scientists, it is a very good presentation and interpretation of this fascinating subject.
• Polymath Systems: I found his web page after I found the website of the mega society. Kevin Langdon's IQ is higher than the IQ of 99.999% of the population. Like an Olympic weightlifter, who can push more weight than the average person, Kevin can think harder than most people. I found his legislative program very interesting. Some ideas I find very creative and interesting (like the modifications of the jury system), others are not (like banning bicycles or abolishing hunting.)
• Prof. Steve Dutch's homepage: I found his website after searching for information on the Piri Reis map, a map that supposedly shows the sub-glacial coastline of Antarctica. Professor Dutch not only dismisses the case in his essay, but makes a case against all people that come up with crazy theories and thus try to minimize the achievement of painstaking research.

"What evidence would it take to prove your beliefs wrong? I simply will not reply to challenges that do not address this question. Refutability is one of the classic determinants of whether a theory can be called scientific. Moreover, I have found it to be a great general-purpose cut-through-the-crap question to determine whether somebody is interested in serious intellectual inquiry or just playing mind games. Note, by the way, that I am assuming the burden of proof here - all you have to do is commit to a criterion for testing. It's easy to criticize science for being "closed-minded". Are you open-minded enough to consider whether your ideas might be wrong?" ...

"There's a class of crank that hates the idea that other people might have real accomplishments, because they never accomplish anything themselves. So Shakespeare didn't write his plays, other people did; Robert Peary didn't reach the North Pole as he claimed, and so on. And Piri Reis wasn't a gifted admiral and good intelligence analyst, but had to get help from ancient lost documents. Get a life, folks."

• Prof. Philip Greenspun's homepage: I have learned more about software design, project management and the web in general from his publications and web casts than from anything else. Narcissistic, though not unsympathetic he gets always right to the point. The most interesting factoid for me is that any software company should employ only a few superior programmers vs. many mediocre programmers with mediocre project managers.
